Windup Sport and Social League Policies

Everyone is playing to have fun.  While dodgeball can be a competitive sport at times, please try to maintain a level head and a positive attitude at all times.  Violent and aggressive behavior will not be tolerated at any time.

*Management reserves the right to make decisions in the spirit of fairness, even if a strict interpretation of the rules indicates a different ruling.

In dodgeball, possibly more so than any other sport, the honor system is key!

If you realize you have been hit by a ball and you're out, go out!

If you see that a teammate has been hit by a ball and is out, let them know!

Not following either of these codes of conduct is cheating and subject to management ruling.

The referee missing a call or failing to call you out does not remove your obligation to go out if you have been hit or if your ball has been caught.  Every player in Windup will be held to the highest ethical standard while on court.  Anyone found repeatedly violating the honor system will be warned and possibly removed from Windup.  Cheaters are no fun and not welcome .

There is no maximum number of players allowed on a team's roster.  Substitutes will be allowed to play from week to week and after signing the waiver, but will not be allowed to play in the playoffs.

All Windup participants must be 18 years of age or older prior to their first scheduled game.  Windup reserves the right to request a photo ID from any player at any time for any reason.

We are all adults, and Windup expects all participants to act like it.  Unsportsmanlike behavior may result in that player being ejected from the game.  An ejection may result in further suspension from participation in current and/or future Windup sports.  An ejected player(s) is required to leave the premises immediately; refusal to leave the premises may result in a team forfeit and/or increased length of suspension.

All dodgeball matches will have a 45 minutes time limit.   At the end of the 45 minutes, the team with the most wins will be declared the winner of the match.  A "mercy rule" will be enacted if a team takes a 10 game lead advantage against its opponent.

All games have a 5 minute time limit.   After 5 minutes, if the game has not concluded, the team with the most number of players remaining gets the win.  If, after five minutes, each team has the same number of players remaining, the game will go into "overtime" which is explained in further detail in the Rules.  Teams will change sides after each game.

If teams are tied at the end of the match, that match will enter overtime and, if necessary, sudden death.

Each team will designate one of their players as captain for the season.  If the captain is absent for a match, the team will designate a replacement captain for that game.  Captains are responsible for coordinating the following:

Team names

Team uniform colors

Weekly team emails

Substitute players

Additionally, captains are responsible for communicating with referees during a match.

Please note: This does not mean captains are allowed to yell, scream, or curse at the referees.

Captains are the only players allowed to communicate with referees during a match.

If a team is short the minimum number of players by game time, the game will be considered a forfeit.  Please notify a member of the Windup staff by 5 PM on the day preceding the match if your team is forfeiting.

In the event of inclement weather or any other event that causes games to be postponed, Windup will make every attempt to reschedule all games.  In the event of multiple cancellations, Windup reserves the option to shorten the regular season and/or the playoff schedule.  Make-up games may be scheduled on days other than the regularly scheduled days of the week.  Neither refunds nor pro-rated refunds will be given if the season is shortened due to inclement weather or due to actions taken by the venue.

Windup will supply dodgeballs for each court.
